Donor

In certain situations a woman may no longer be able to develop follicles and ovulate.  This can be the result of various medical conditions such as premature ovarian failure (POF), also referred to as premature menopause.  In this case, couples who still want to use the husband's sperm may seek a donor egg.  When there is a male factor involved as well, but the woman still wants to achieve pregnancy, couples can seek to use a donor embryo.  Pregnancy using donor eggs or embryos would be achieved with in vitro fertilization (IVF).  In yet another scenario, the woman may have and develop good eggs, but her partner may not produce viable sperm, in which case, they might decide to use donor sperm.  Pregnancy could be achieved using IUI or IVF.
